RUN provides the New York City Region with a flexible framework for future infrastructure investments.
ReThink NYC’s RUN project is a comprehensive strategy to guide transportation infrastructure investment decisions for the entire New York Metropolitan Region for a generation.
It includes one required phase, projected to begin immediately, and eight individual recommended projects that expand on the foundation laid by Phase One. Each of those individual projects is both valuable as a standalone initiative and also more valuable with each additional project undertaken. They are designed to be modular and flexible, so that future decision‐makers will have the option to begin them either in any order or simultaneously in virtually any combination.
Population, development, and transit are interconnected, and if one suffers, the other two suffer. By addressing the region’s transit problems, RUN can alleviate some of New York’s most pressing economic and social problems.
